Light of the World

As a little boy, I’ve always been afraid of the dark. Like many children of my age, There was the Fear of darkness that creeps deep inside. I’ve always been told that there’s nothing to be afraid in the dark, but I feel much better in the goodness of light and what it brings on me.

In our faith, we symbolize light as our source of comfort and reassurance. After all, we refer to Jesus as the’ ‘Light of the World”. Just as in the day of creation, God said, ”Let there be light and even acknowledged ”How good the light was” (Genesis 1:3-4).

Our Catholic tradition goes on the way of celebrating the goodness of light of Christ. In Baptism, for the Advent wreath at Christmas season, the Easter vigil during Holy Saturday Liturgies, it constantly reminds us that, in times of darkness, Jesus Christ provides us with light. During this summer season, when days grow longer, I encourage everyone to show appreciation and experience in many absolute ways the light that brightens our lives.

Wake up early and be mesmerized by the beauty of sunlight dawning on the horizon and be charmed by the sunset at the end of the day. Be captivated also of the beauty of the moon and stars at night.

Enjoy and savor the beauty of night, it’s calm and cool atmosphere and realizing how God, in His infinite goodness, made it perfect for you and the rest of us.

As our way of showing love, respect and appreciation to God, we must conserve the energy in every possible way, preserving the natural wonders God has entrusted to us as diligent children of our Supreme and Almighty father.
